The task of writing your resume can be quite arduous. It's perfectly reasonable to spend a total of three to five days over a three-week period working on the final copy of your resume.
The following are important points to remember:
- Omit all information that doesn't support your career objective.
- Your resume needs to be the most efficient document you have ever written. After completing your resume, reread it from beginning to end with the intention of eliminating everything superfluous or imprecise.
- Be selective in using the creative tactics described throughout this section. List only your strongest skills and traits and keep this list short. Describe one career success story per job, and only for the two or three most important jobs. Scatter cross-cultural awareness information throughout your resume, but limit this information to four or six occurrences.
