Even now, we live in a truly globalized world, and your level of cross-cultural understanding can make or break your international career. Don’t wait until you have graduated before you think about expanding and internationalizing your resume and experience. Building International Experience is a section on the main MyWorldAbroad site (for registered users) that is designed to give you a sense of why you need cross-cultural skills in order to become a global professional. Check out a few of the top tips from the section!

Top Tips

  1. Knowledge takes time! You can’t expect to hop on a plane and develop cross-cultural skills on a one-week vacation. Global understanding is developed step-by-step, over time.
  2. Don’t wait for the world to knock on your door: Get involved. There are plenty of ways for you to get engaged on campus, whether you are able to spend time abroad or not.
  3. Form a club on campus or online: Can’t find a club that meets your international needs? Form one!
  4. Study abroad when possible: We can’t recommend it enough! School is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in a foreign culture. Even while we must stay in our homes to support the global coronavirus fight, we can take time to plan our future adventures.
  5. Get creative when going abroad: Feeling adventurous? Come up with your own ideas for traveling, interning or working abroad. This way you can tailor your trip to suit your specific needs.
