Being able to fully immerse herself in a foreign culture while still earning university credit was Theresa’s motivation for exploring her study abroad options. While spending a semester at an applied sciences university in the Netherlands, she became very involved in international student life at her host university, which helped her develop an understanding of Dutch culture, in addition to a variety of other traditions.

All it took was a poster in her exchange coordinator’s office to get Sheila hooked on the idea of studying in France. Studying in Lyon, Sheila expanded her cultural horizons by building her French language skills, sampling a wide array of local foods and getting involved in extra-curricular activities. At times living Lyon tested her patience, but it ultimately enriched her life.

Since both of her parents are of German descent, going on exchange to Germany was a natural choice for Sabrina’s first long-term adventure abroad. She took part in a year-long exchange program that sent her to Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, where she soaked up the culture and picked up a wealth of locals’ tips.
