With the goal of helping people "gain understanding, acquire knowledge and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world," the CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) offers multiple programs for US citizens seeking international experiences. For students, summers and school or gap years abroad are offered both at the high school and college level. College students will also find multiple international internship opportunities, primarily in the field of international business, though it. For grads there are opportunities to teach English abroad in Chile, China, the Dominican Republic, South Korea, Spain and Thailand. For those further along in their careers, seminars and conferences on international education exchange are also available. The CIEE also provides opportunities for international students seeking to undertake a program of work or study in the US. US high school students will find a up-to-date listing of upcoming go abroad fairs at schools across the country. The CIEE site is quite big, and the application process is quite extensive, so be prepared to spend a little time sifting through all the information.
