"Reading a book can only tell you so much," says Chee. "To truly understand some things you must experience them first-hand." During his undergrad degree, Chee took his own advice and went abroad to study at Kookmin University in South Korea. As a design student, Chee was as interested in the visual culture as in the social culture, and his story highlights some excellent attitudes towards international experiences and cultural immersion. Celine’s reasons for traveling to Ethiopia were two-fold. Firstly, she knew that media outlets in her home country weren’t telling the whole story about life in Africa, and she wanted to experience it first-hand.
